Choir Boy, led by Ohio-via-Salt Lake City singer/songwriter Adam Klopp, have dropped a new single, “Nites Like This,” the first taste of their next album, due out next year. “Nites Like This” follows their 2018 single “Sunday Light” and 2017 debut LP Passive With Desire, all released on Dais Records. Choir Boy recently came off some tour dates with Ceremony and Snail Mail, and they have a few additional headlining tour dates, which are listed down below.

“Nites Like This” is an extension of the gothic ‘80s dream pop and electronic soundscapes that made up Passive With Desire, and here, Klopp delivers one of his most emotional vocal performances to date. His angelic, distinctive flutters dance around chilled-out beeps and boops, resulting in an introspective daze—sultry but overwhelmingly meaningful. Klopp’s inherent tenderness and bold vocal dynamics add weight to his wistful lyrics: “Falls the night / and deeply sighs our woven melody / Nites like this stars don’t bother to shine.”

According to Klopp, the song “contemplates the impermanence of romantic love and is meant to simulate a dream in which you’re dancing with your lover, but they are slowly pulled away by an invisible force.”
