CHVRCHES Release Gorgeous Official Video for “Leave a Trace”

It’s difficult to be a CHVRCHES fan without worshipping the ground Lauren Mayberry walks on, which complicates things when she walks on water instead.
The CHVRCHES lead singer does just that in the band’s video for Every Open Eye lead single “Leave a Trace,” which was released this morning. The dazzling clip is the first official visual from the Scottish electro-pop trio’s forthcoming sophomore album, unless you count last week’s lyric video for second single “Never Ending Circles.” Either way, we all win.
Mayberry’s presence is magnetic in the “Leave a Trace” clip—bandmates Iain Cook and Martin Doherty wisely stay out of her way, keeping to the shadows while Mayberry serenades a reflection of herself, poses in an otherworldly ocean somewhere among the cosmos, and brings the track to breathtaking life. The video deserves, as SPIN’s Brennan Carley quipped, every open eye.
