Cymbals Eat Guitars Share “Finally (Demo)” via Bandcamp, Donating Proceeds to Urban Justice Center

As reported earlier this week, Bandcamp is donating 100 percent of its shares of sales today (Friday) to the ACLU. And since the music purveyors made that announcement, a host of musicians have made similar commitments, including New Jersey’s Cymbals Eat Guitars.

Today, the shoegazing emo group posted a raw and howling version of the Pretty Days track “Finally (Demo)” to its Bandcamp page. Like much of the band’s best work, “Finally (Demo)” mines a deep emotional vein that splits the difference between bruised and defiant. And as an added bonus, 100 percent of the proceeds from the track are going to the Urban Justice Center, which serves NYC’s most vulnerable residents through “a combination of direct legal service, systemic advocacy, community education and political organizing.”

You can hear the pay-what-you-want track here now, and the Bandcamp sale is going on all day. Find Cymbals Eat Guitars’ statement on the song and Paste Cloud audio from their 2012 Daytrotter session below.

Cymbals Eat Guitars’ Statement:

Bandcamp has announced that today, Friday, Feb. 3, they will be donating 100 percent of their proceeds from sales to the ACLU, an organization that is more important and in need of support than ever before. For our part, we’re offering the demo version of our song “Finally” as a Bandcamp exclusive, and we’ll be donating 100 percent of our proceeds from the track to The Urban Justice Center, another crucially important organization on the front lines of protecting New York City’s most vulnerable residents. Please consider buying this track … it’s pay-what-you-want, and no amount is insignificant. Love, CEG
