Dude York Surprise-Release New EP Happy in the Meantime

Seattle trio Dude York are starting off 2019 right, surprising us all with their new EP Happy in the Meantime on Friday. Tracks “What Would You Do If You Had Some Money Now?” and “Moon” had been previously released, while “Run” and “No One In My Life Can Hear Me Scream” are new additions.

Their garage pop proves just as charming as ever on the four-song EP. Bassist/vocalist Claire England sounds like Hayley Williams’ grungier sister in the catchy first tune, “Run.” “No One In My Life Can Hear Me Scream” is the perfect song to soundtrack the release of your inner angst, with guitarist and singer Peter Richards seeming half-resigned to his fate and half-raging against the world. The tracks all have a sense of desperate urgency about them—even the titles themselves feel insistent. With fuzzy guitar and Andrew Hall’s enthusiastic drumming, the EP sounds ready for blasting on your next rainy road trip.

Stream Happy in the Meantime, released via Hardly Art Records, here, check out “Run” below, along with the EP’s details and Dude York’s tour dates, and get acquainted with the band via Paste’s 2017 Best of What’s Next profile.
