Feist Announces Cookbook Companion to Pleasure

In March, Feist released the excellent Pleasure, her first album in six years, and with it, she explored emotional limits, “probing an abyss of her own confusion, lack of trust in others and self-imposed isolation,” as Rachel Brodsky wrote in our review of the album. Now, Feist is giving us a different perspective with Pleasures: The Meals Of An Album, a cookbook companion to her record.

Written with Adrienne Amato, a chef for Feist and her band during the recording sessions for Pleasure, the cookbook covers over 40 vegetarian recipes for meals that were shared among the album’s personnel over the span of 11 days in the studio. Within 122 pages, the collection of recipes is organized on a “song-by-song, day-by-day basis.”

“The making of an album is a communal process on many levels, and that extended to the community of the kitchen while we were recording,” Feist said in a statement. “We hope this book will embolden you to expand your repertoire, stock up on simple staples and invite friends into your kitchen to cook some of these meals with them.”

The book is due out on Dec. 11, just in time for the holidays. All the proceeds will go toward Community Food Centres Canada, a non-profit that sets out to “build health, belonging and social justice in low-income communities across Canada through the power of food.” See the cover for Pleasures: The Meals Of An Album below and order a copy here.
