Glass Animals to Host a Tumblr IRL Event in August, Share New Track

On Wed, Aug. 31, Glass Animals will host a Tumblr IRL event at the Auditorium at the Village Studios in Los Angeles. The event is in celebration of the impending Aug. 26 release of their sophomore album How To Be A Human Being. All attendees of the Tumblr IRL event will receive a limited-edition pressing of the album.

The free event, sponsored by Ice Breakers, will feature a special performance by the band, as well as an immersive collaboration between Glass Animals, multimedia designer Ashten “Whoopi” Winger and Ukrainian pixel artist Mykola “Myk” Dosenko. This collaboration will bring to life the diverse group of fictional characters featured on the album, inspired by real people the band encountered while touring over the past two years. The Tumblr IRL event is open to fans of all ages with an RSVP, which you can send in right here.

“Glass Animals’ new project embodies the blending of mediums and the limitless expression that our Tumblr IRL events stand for,” says Nate Auerbach, Tumblr’s head of music. “The band’s collaboration with Whoopi and Myk will take fans deeper down a very internetty path of just what is going on inside their creative brains.”

Spotify will record Glass Animals’ Tumblr IRL performance as a special Spotify Session, for which the artwork will be sourced from Whoopi and Myk, and Vinyl Me, Please will press the session on wax. The Spotify Session will be released at a later date.

How To Be A Human Being will be available this Friday, and fans who pre-order the album now will instantly receive “Life Itself” and “Youth.”
