After much anticipation, Greta Van Fleet’s debut album is available now.

The album, Anthem of the Peaceful Army, is out today, Oct. 19, on Lava/Republic Records, and is the band’s third release in two years following 2017 EPs Black Smoke Rising and From The Fires. Recording in Nashville’s Blackbird Studio, the band once again enlisted Marlon Young, Al Sutton and Herschel Boone, aka The Rust Brothers, to produce their “call to arms.”

Written by all four members, the album tackles issues far outside the scope of the band’s day-to-day life in focusing on “peace, love and unity.” From “Watching Over,” in which frontman Josh Kiszka implores, “I wonder when we’ll realize / This is what we’ve got left / And it’s our demise / With the water rising / And air so thin / Still the children smiling / Can we see no sin,” to “Brave New World” with the lines, “Take one look at your skies / And in the darkness realize / Kill fear, the power of lies / For we will not be hypnotized,” it’s clear that Greta are not only considering the greater picture with this album, but also urging others—young and old—to do the same. Pairing this with the band’s blues/soul/rock sensibilities and superb musicianship, the album truly makes a statement for the rising rockers.

The band is set to embark on a nearly six-month world trek next year, dubbed the March of the Peaceful Army Tour, in support of the album. Find more information regarding the upcoming tour on the band’s website.
