A Day in the Life: Hank Williams III

Hank Williams III is back on the road, tearing through the Southeast on an 18-date stretch from Chattanooga’s Rhythm and Brews to Nashville’s infamous Exit/In on August 8th. As always, Hank3 will hit the stage for four hours, revving up with country/hellbilly, seguing through punk and doom, and ending with what he calls “around another 30 minutes will be dedicated to the 3Bar Ranch/Cattle Callin’ set”.

Hank3 doesn’t start or stop there though. No, his days begin with load-in (during which, in this particular case, he fixes whatever speakers have been blown the night before), and doesn’t end till the last fan’s hand is shaken and autograph is signed. Paste caught up with Hank3 at Asheville’s Orange Peel, and saw firsthand how the grandson of the de facto Grandfather of Country is taking a cue from the Godfather of Soul in order to claim the title of “the hardest working man in show business.”
