HGTV and Paste Present The Stages on Sixth Day 2 Recap and Photos

Day two at the Stages on Sixth kicked off with a set from Atlanta’s own Von Grey. The ladies started the day’s festivities with the kinds of harmonies that only come from being blood-related. After things were underway, Mount Moriah opened the outdoor stage with some cuts from their stellar new album, Miracle Temple.

Despite everyone being a little sunburnt and weary from the previous day’s action, Thao and the Get Down Stay Down managed to pack the venue relatively early in the afternoon. For those unwilling to huff the free Aero Shot energy shots being handed out at the party, Thao’s lovely vocals served as a healthy jolt—a bit of sonic caffeine.

New Orleans’ Hurray for the Riff Raff kept things rolling with a set that fused their country, folk and rock influences into a unique sound best experienced in the sunshine with a beer in hand. Later on, Brendan Benson turned in exactly the kind of effortlessly cool set you’d expect from him, and—armed only with an acoustic guitar—Bhi Bhiman gave fans an opportunity to sit down, stretch their legs and relax during his set. His smooth, laidback vocals made for the perfect late-afternoon breather.

Josh Ritter—our recent cover star—closed things out with a joyful set that included cuts from his new record as well as favorites like “Girl in the War” and “To the Dogs or Whoever.”
