Daily Dose: Hit Bargain, “In Quiet Streets”

L.A.’s Hit Bargain, featuring current and former members of bands like The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Cold Beat, and Beach Fossils, came together to create confrontational punk that paints searing portraits of society. Like a modern Alice Bag, lead singer Nora Singh offers intense and artistic live performances that tackle issues of gender, power and politics.

The band’s latest, “In Quiet Streets,” was written about the darkness that lingers within the corners of American life. Singh calls the song “a quick study of the suburbs, where things like gun violence, racism and sexual abuse are tucked away neatly behind manicured hedges.”

Watch the track’s gutsy video — co-starring Singh’s real-life child — below. Hit Bargain’s debut Potential Maximizer is out May 11 via Buzz Records.
