Exclusive: Watch Husky Loops Strut Down Peckham High Street in New Video, “Everyone Is Having Fun Fun Fun But Me”

Italian-born, London-based trio Husky Loops recently announced the details of their debut album, I CAN’T EVEN SPEAK ENGLISH, out on August 16 on Danger Mouse’s label, 30th Century Records. Today, they’re sharing the Tom Ringsby-directed video for their new single “Everyone Is Having Fun Fun Fun But Me,” exclusively on Paste.

Featuring contributions from friend and collaborator Fred Gibson (Charli XCX, Plan B), “Everyone Is Having Fun Fun Fun But Me” pairs pumping trip-hop beats, icy, electro vocals and lush atmospherics for the perfect grooving, post-night-out downer. It’s for the early hours of the morning when you’re gazing out the window, still awake after a night that was supposed to be life-affirming, but instead felt stale.

The track’s accompanying video was shot in one take on Peckham High Street in the middle of the night, and it stars some of Husky Loops’ collaborators and old friends including Joy Anonymous, MEI and niceboy. The video is a nod to The Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony,” which saw frontman Richard Ashcroft singing while strutting intensely down the street. Husky Loops vocalist Danio Forni says of that famous Verve clip, “That’s my favourite video ever and I thought I’d be honest and just copy it. The Verve did that too when they copied Massive Attack’s video for ‘Unfinished Sympathy.’ Maybe someone else will copy us.”

Husky Loops previously released a mixtape and three EPs—their self-titled debut, EP2 and Spool. They made their North American live debut at this year’s SXSW and have toured with David Byrne, Sunflower Bean, The Kills, Placebo
and Spoon.
