With their third album, The Cover up, IATWTC’s Amy Dykes and Dan Geller are still doing what they do best: making fun, fist-pumping, New Wave-inflected electropop that will leave you smiling in layered laptop bliss. But the party-centric duo’s feel-good dance record comes on the heels of a saddening development. While on tour in late April, sweet-voiced singer Dykes was hospitalized in Fairfax, Va., and diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma (cancer of the Lymphatic System). She and Geller have since been forced to cancel their tour in support of the album and Dykes is currently undergoing chemotherapy. But the energetic disco hooks of Cover Up offer listeners a welcome contrast to the tragic news.
