Exclusive: Watch the Video for James Vincent McMorrow’s Somber Tune “Pink Salt Lake”

Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow’s latest album, True Care, is a prime example of an artist bearing their soul in their work. The record, available digitally now, is out physically on July 28, but you can now watch the music video for “Pink Salt Lake,” a highlight of the record, exclusively at Paste.

The footage from the video was actually shot by McMorrow’s wife at a farm in Texas during the recording of his album Post Tropical. McMorrow often writes music to visual material, and, while watching the grainy video of restless animals, he wrote the piano line for “Pink Salt Lake.” He then looped back around to the video and the piano line during the recording of True Care and finished the song to be what you hear now. “That’s where this song came from, literally from the heart of the footage,” McMorrow explains.

Watch the video for “Pink Salt Lake” above, and see his tour dates and listen to a McMorrow performance from the Paste Cloud below. True Care is available for preorder here.
