John Prine Nominated for Songwriters Hall of Fame

John Prine has been nominated for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. The 50th annual ceremony will take place on June 13, 2019, in New York City.

The nomination is the latest in a banner year for Prine. He was nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, won Artist of the Year at the 2018 Americana Music Association Honors & Awards, and released a new album, The Tree of Forgiveness, his first in over 13 years. The album featured guest turns from modern stars including Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires.

Prine will be touring throughout the remainder of the year, including a New Years Eve show at Nashville’s Opry House. Find a full list of his tour dates further down.

Other 2019 nominees for the Songwriters Hall include Mariah Carey, Jimmy Cliff and Missy Elliott, the latter of whom is the first female rapper ever nominated. You can see the complete list of nominees here.
