Kanye West Cancels Surprise Performance After Governor’s Ball Cancellation
Photo by Christopher Polk/Getty Music News Kanye WestKanye West was just trying his Kanye best to make it up to his fans after Governor’s Ball canceled their day-three lineup—including a performance by West—due to bad weather. At 2 a.m. on Monday, West planned a pop-up concert at Webster Hall (because he loves pop-ups). But, after thousands of people showed up to the 1,500-capacity venue, police had to shut down the show, according to The Guardian.

News about the concert was first released by 2 Chainz on Snapchat and later continued to spread through social media. Big Sean, Pusha T, Travis Scott and other rappers were also scheduled to perform at the concert. At 1 a.m. West tweeted that the show was “sold out” despite him not selling any tickets for it.

At 1:15 a.m., police began asking people to leave the venue, but the crowd remained. At around 2 a.m., West drove through the crowd: “Everybody has to calm down,” said West through the sunroof of his car. “If you don’t calm down, no one is going inside.”

The concert was later canceled, but many of the other performers, including Big Sean, Pusha T and Travis Scott held shows at nearby bar SOB’s. West continued driving, searching for other possible pop-up venues to perform at, according to Billboard. West’s creative content company Donda tweeted that a pop-up concert would be at Trump Soho at 3:21 a.m.

West never made an appearance at either of the venues. Almost 20 minutes later, Kim Kardashian West announced that the concert was canceled via Snapchat: “Alright guys we’re in bed. We tried. He tried, so hard. But it was just bigger, the cops just really wouldn’t allow it,” she said.
