Last month, Karen O announced her first solo album Crush Songs. Now, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ frontwoman has shared the first taste of the album via her new video for “Rapt.”
Directed by O’s husband Barney Clay with production design by Her’s K.K. Bennett, the video features lush imagery of O floating underwater, drenched in red sparkles. “Rapt” previews the angsty album about love and is reminiscent of O’s recent Oscar-nominated “The Moon Song.”
Crush Songs, recorded in 2006 and 2007, lives up to its name. It’s a collection of bedroom recordings detailing what O calls, “an ever continuing love crusade.” The album is set to be released Sept. 9 via Julian Casablancas’ Cult Records and will be available for pre-order on July 29.
