Grammy Leader Kendrick Lamar Raps “Alright” With City of Compton

Kendrick Lamar, who will be up for 11 Grammys come Feb. 15, returned to his hometown of Compton, CA, to rap with some of the locals.

The music awards organization released the short film yesterday, featuring various members of the community reciting the lyrics to Lamar’s protest anthem “Alright” before Lamar joins in towards the end. The song, which was adopted by the Black Lives Matter movement last year, is nominated for song of the year, best rap performance, best rap song and best music video.

Lamar collected the most Grammy nominations for 2016, including album of the year for To Pimp A Butterfly and various nominations for collaborative work with artists such as Taylor Swift and Kanye West. Taylor Swift and The Weeknd both have the next highest number, with seven nominations each.
