Kendrick Lamar has dropped the music video for “King Kunta,” one of the standout singles from his recent LP To Pimp a Butterfly. The video premiered last night exclusively via the Beats by Dre billboard in Times Square, but has since been made readily available online.
The clip, which features King Kendrick once again showing his Compton roots by just hanging around and spitting the song at the Compton swap meet, comes to us from Director X. The loose, throwback attitude of the video calls to mind all of the great posse hip-hop music videos of old, serving the song’s message in only the vaguest sense, the fact that Kendrick will always keep Compton in his heart.
