Kesha Enters Studio With Zedd As Sony Legal Battles Rage On

Music News Kesha

Despite having her claims of abuse at the hands of Dr. Luke and a request to be released early from her multi-record contract with Sony denied by a Manhattan judge earlier this month, the We Are Who We Are singer is back in the studio.

She and DJ/producer Zedd spent the week collaborating on several tracks after both appeared together during the DJ’s Coachella set. The two have already produced a new single, “True Colors,” despite ambiguities around who Kesha would have to create new tracks with while in the studio. Sony and Kemosabe are apparently holding up on one end of their deal, allowing the pop sensation to collaborate with the hitmaker, according to Zedd’s Twitter.

The new single is scheduled to be released April 29 and already has a cover, which Kesha shared yesterday over Instagram.

Despite being back in the studio, the legal battle between Kesha and Dr. Luke will continue as both still have cases pending against each other in New York that will have hearings next month. For Kesha, a lawsuit against the Kemosabe label producer for sexual assault, battery, harassment, gender violence, unfair business practices, and infliction of emotional distress is still pending. Meanwhile, Dr. Luke has not dropped his plans to sue the “Tik Tok” singer for breach of contract and defamation.
