Limbeck – Let Me Come Home

A sunny serving of power-pop, minus the vibrancy

Southern California-based Limbeck’s cheery brew of power pop mixed with healthy doses of country and honky-tonk twang is clearly the work of a capable group of musicians. But that doesn’t make this dollop of Americana-tinged rock the most interesting record you’ve ever heard. Robb MacLean’s tales of hanging out in parking lots outside shows and ambivalence about Las Vegas are backed by players who strum their guitars and blow their harmonicas with sincerity. Shades of Paul Weller and Wilco surface throughout Let Me Come Home, but the youthful vibrancy of rock ’n’ roll vanishes somewhere in the process.
