It’s been nearly three years since Lorde’s massively successful debut album Pure Heroine was released. Since then, there’s been little heard from the Kiwi electropop artist.
On Tuesday, Lorde posted a vacation picture on Instagram, and among the sea of heart emojis and adoring remarks, one follower posted a rather testy comment: “Do you think we will ever get another album or should we just give up on you as an artist?” Yikes. Patience wears thin on even the most loyal of fans. Surprisingly, Lorde replied to the comment, writing:
Give up on me if you want to! I’m an artist, I write a record when I have enough special stories to tell, and it’s all me, every melody every lyric, not some team who just start the machine up every eighteen months like clockwork. The record is written, we’re in the production stages now, I’ve worked like a dog for a year making this thing great for you guys.
The 19-year-old New Zealander did not reveal any details about the timeframe expected for her new album, but if you want to know more, it seems like posting a passive-aggressive comment on her Instagram posts will work (but that’s a little rude, isn’t it). Find Lorde’s post below.
