Watch Lykke Li’s Moving “Utopia” Video

Don’t watch Lykke Li’s new music video “Utopia” if you already feel guilty about that late Mother’s Day card you just stuck in the mail. The latest music video from the Swedish singer-songwriter is a portrait of motherhood, composed of moving home videos from Li’s own childhood, as well as footage of her and her own son.

Li’s son was born in 2016, and her mother, singer and photographer Kärsti Stiege, died in 2017. In a tweet promoting the video, Li wrote, “Utopia is all my mother ever wanted for me and all I ever want for him” in a nod to them both.

The track features Li’s signature dream-pop soprano. The singer’s latest album, so sad so sexy, is due out in June on RCA Records. It is her first album since 2014’s I Never Learn.

Watch the video for “utopia” (dir. Clara Cullen) and listen to Li’s collaboration with Vampire Weekend multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij on the track “hard rain” from so sad so sexy below.
