Maggie Rogers Announces Debut Album, Shares New Single “Light On”

Maggie Rogers has shared “Light On,” the new single off her forthcoming debut album Heard It In a Past Life, out Jan. 18, 2019, on Capitol Records.
“Light On” is a fluorescent dance-floor jam in the vein of her previous singles off the album. Rogers’ knack for infusing blipping synth melodies with warmth makes the pop-radio tactics of “Light On” feel a bit more sincere. Her voice is the key—it’s rounded and versatile, heartfelt and fluttering, a firefly over flashing-light beats.
Rogers describes the song as a love letter to her fans. “There was so much change that happened so fast, I wasn’t always sure how to make all this stuff feel like me. I was really overwhelmed for a while, and scared, too,” she says in a statement. “This song is me actively choosing this life—in my way and in my time.”
Two tracks from Heard It In a Past Life, Rogers’ breakthrough track “Alaska” and subsequent single “On + Off,” appeared on her 2017 debut EP Now That The Light Is Fading. Other previously released songs from her forthcoming album include “Give a Little” and “Fallingwater.”
Rogers will be embarking on a North American headlining tour before joining Mumford & Sons on the road for the remainder of the year. Find her full list of dates further down.
