Live Photos: Marian Hill, Vérité & SHAED Light Up Webster Hall

There are few touring combinations that make as much sense as SHAED, Vérité and Marian Hill. The three groups form the crest of a new wave where EDM, pop, singer-songwriter and jazz/blues mesh beautifully, with each group skewing the balance of that mix. They’re also all relative newcomers, picking up only a few years ago to pockets of online buzz and acclaim. Trio SHAED dropped its debut EP Just Wanna See last September, rooted in slick production from twin brothers Max and Spencer Ernst and typhoon vocals courtesy Chelsea Lee. Brooklyn’s Vérité, née Kelsey Byrne, skirts a synth-heavy, sensual sound wrapped around deceptively deep hooks. Headliner Marian Hill is probably the most experimental of the bunch; members Samantha Gongol and Jeremy Lloyd merge contemporary jazz staples like sax, piano and syncopation against heavy post-production vocal edits and beats.

Photographer DeShaun Craddock caught all three groups when they played Webster Hall last Wednesday.
