MGMT performed the title track off their newest album Little Dark Age on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night, May 17. Little Dark Age debuted at No. 2 on both the alternative and rock album charts.
The music video for “Little Dark Age,” released in October of 2017, seems a mix of mock-horror and actual-eerie. The gothic, shadowy images of the music video were brought onstage at Jimmy Kimmel Live! through the screen, mainly lit red behind the band, which played some color-tinted clips from the video.
After “Little Dark Age,” the group then played “James,” “When You Die,” “TSLAMP” and “Me and Michael” off-air for the fans who had come, resulting in what would amount to a short festival set, but a much longer performance than fans would usually get at a TV show taping. The excitement of those dedicated fans able to attend could be heard between each song, and fans that were unable to go will have the opportunity to see MGMT live later this year at a mix of festivals and regular tour dates.
