Michael Jackson has surely proven that his music will never die. Last night the iHeart Music Awards premiered a single from his new posthumous album Xscape. It’s a duet with Justin Timberlake titled “Love Never Felt So Good”.
The single was originally written, recorded and produced in 1983 by Jackson and Paul Anka. The new album was executive produced by Epic Records chairman and CEO L.A. Reid and produced by John McClain, who is the co-executor of Michael Jackson’s estate. After Jackson’s death, Reid was given unlimited access to four decades of recordings where Jackson had completed his vocals tracks.
“The contemporized recording is a magic combination of the new and original production that retains the track’s analog, early 80’s feel, while also sounding right at home with the disco-soul inflected music of today,” said McClain in a press release.
Xscape is set for a May 13 release through Epic Records and will feature eight new songs. “Love Never Felt So Good” also has an alternative version with Justin Timberlake and will be available to download starting today. Epic Records also plans to release a deluxe edition of Xscape, which will include a selection of Jackson’s original recordings.
