Daily Dose: Moon Honey, “That Dog”

Daily Dose is your daily source for the song you absolutely, positively need to hear every day. Curated by the Paste Music Team.

Something about the title of this new Moon Honey song delights me to no end. It sounds like this lovely pop duo from Los Angeles are nodding to the ‘90s alt group that dog that introduced the Haden sisters to the world. Or that they are calling out their own personal pup. Whatever the case, it’s the perfect name for what is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs of the year.

Taken from Moon Honey’s forthcoming album Mixed Media On Woman (out on September 8th), this new tune comes with a new video as well. The delightfully abstract clip comes from a collaboration the group entered into with visual artists Jess Joy and Colleen Louise Berry. As Moon Honey member Andrew Martin says, “They built a black dog sculpture (which represented depression) that ate dreams and was featured in the video directed by Victoria Innocenzi and co-directed by Joy and Barry. Scenes were shot across in Malibu, Lancaster and the band’s home in Silver Lake.”
