Morrissey Is Wheelchair-Bound in New Video for “Spent the Day in Bed”

Morrissey has already released the first single “Spent the Day in Bed” from his forthcoming Low in High School last month, and now he’s shared the video accompanying the track, which surprisingly doesn’t feature any beds at all.

Instead, Morrissey spent the duration of the video in a chair, of either the wheel or stationary variety. The clip opens with the singer being wheeled into a semi-abandoned club by a caretaker played by English soccer player Joey Barton, and then he dramatically sings most of the song seated in a chair, and at some point, cabaret artist David Hoyle appears on stage. Later, Morrissey’s band and company also push the singer to each other on his wheelchair, passing him around like a hot potato.

Morrissey is set to kick off a U.S. tour in support of Low in High School, out Nov. 17, at the end of the month, unless he cancels it—in which case, we won’t be too surprised. See the full itinerary here and watch the video for “Spent the Day in Bed” below.
