Mumford & Sons Release “Guiding Light” Video, Confirm Worldwide Tour Dates

The official music video for Mumford & Sons’ latest single, “Guiding Light,” premiered on Wednesday. Have your heart warmed by the clip below.

“Guiding Light” was shot at The Tate Modern in London last month—on Sept. 21, the day after their new album and single were announced. The video was directed by Joe Connor, notable for his work with other big names in the industry, including Sam Smith and Coldplay.

The video features the band up close and personal, performing for their fans. As the audience bobs alongside the beat and Marcus Mumford in turn feeds off the energy of the crowd, the video demonstrates the power of music to bring complete strangers together. ‘Guided’ by Marcus et al. (pun intended), the congregation is transformed from a mixture of individuals into one collective force.

Guiding Light” is the first single from the Grammy Award-winning band’s forthcoming album, Delta. Mumford & Sons’ fourth release will be made available on Nov. 16 via Gentlemen of the Road/Glassnote Records.

Delta was written with shared efforts by the band (Mumford, Ben Lovett, Winston Marshall and Ted Dwane), produced by Paul Epworth and recorded at London’s The Church Studios.

To promote the album, Mumford & Sons will embark on an expansive, 63-date worldwide tour next month. The stint will feature a new in-the-round stage design, seeming to further promote the artist-audience relationship set forth in the “Guiding Light” music video. But the inventive rearrangement feels natural for long-time Mumford concert-goers, who are familiar with the band’s penchant for performing a few quieter songs towards the set’s close immersed in the crowd (when feasible).

Beginning on Nov. 16 in Dublin, the band’s tour will continue through the fall and into next spring. The stretch will include North American stops at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center, Boston’s TD Garden, New York’s Madison Square Garden (for two nights) and D.C.’s Capital One Arena. Special guests on select dates include Maggie Rogers, Leon Bridges, Michael Kiwanuka, Sam Fender and more. The band’s largest tour to date, the Delta Tour includes over 800,000 tickets, which are now on sale here.
