After the ninth annual Roots Picnic wrapped up in Philadelphia this past weekend, the band decided to expand their festival from its hometown to its second home, New York City. The inaugural fest is scheduled for Oct. 1-2 in Bryant Park in Manhattan.

Questlove and Black Thought revealed the new festival and its lineup through a freestyle video. The Roots, D’Angelo, and John Mayer are headlining the first night, while the Wu-Tang Clan, David Byrne and Nile Rodgers, all backed by the Roots, will perform the second night, which has been titled “A Love Letter to New York.” The festival will also feature food, comedy and DJ parties.
