Nick Cave, the Australian titan of post-punk, announced a new double album titled Ghosteen through his Q&A newsletter, The Red Hand Files. The album is due next week and will feature Cave’s band The Bad Seeds.
Cave’s announcement came in the form of a letter responding to a question from a fan named Joe and laid out the two-part tracklist of the record:
You can expect a new album next week.
It is called Ghosteen.
It is a double album.
Part 1 comprises of eight songs.
The Spinning Song
Waiting For You
Part 2 consists of two long songs, linked by a spoken word piece.
In a cryptic fashion suiting only Cave, he described the songs that make up the first part of Ghosteen as “the children” and the ones on the second as “their parents.” He closed off the letter by saying, “Ghosteen is a migrating spirit.”
