Phoenix Detail Ti Amo, Share Irresistible Lead Single “J-Boy”

Phoenix’s de facto album announcement went out earlier this week in a revealing New York Times interview, but now the French indie-pop powerhouse has put out all the details of Ti Amo, not to mention our first sampling from the album, sleek lead single “J-Boy.”

Today’s formal announcement confirms that Ti Amo is due out on June 9 via Loyaute/Glassnote, more than four years after the spring 2013 release of their fifth LP, Bankrupt! Produced by Phoenix and recorded at La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris alongside their long-time collaborator Pierrick Devin, the new record is, in the band’s own words:

… An album about simple pure emotions: love, desire, lust and innocence. It’s also a record about our European, Latin roots, a fantasized version of Italy: a lost paradise made of eternal Roman summers (hyper-light, hyper-clarity, pistachio gelato), juke-boxes on the beach, Monica Vitti and Marcello Mastroiani, fearless desire and Antique marble statues.

“J-Boy” is a stylish, synth-heavy track that is arguably the most dance-floor-flooding jam Phoenix have ever released. Thomas Mars sings about being “higher than a disco ball” while shimmering, staccato keys and an insistent beat set toes across the world a-tapping. The track will see its TV debut when Phoenix perform on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on May 2.
