Primavera Sound 2020 Lineup Announced: Pavement, Bikini Kill, Iggy Pop, Bauhaus and More

The Barcelona-based festival Primavera Sound has announced its lineup for the 2020 festival taking place June 3-7. The festival has an eclectic mix of iconic rock performers as well as current favorites, featuring Pavement, Beck, Kim Gordon, Yo La Tengo, The Strokes, Massive Attack and Bauhaus alongside black midi, Pile, Weyes Blood, Jenny Hval, Mica Levi and 100 gecs. Some of the most popular artists around will also perform, including Lana Del Rey, Kim Petras, Bad Bunny, Kacey Musgraves, King Princess and Young Thug.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Primavera Sound, which has also long held a complementary festival in Porto, Portugal. But this year will be the first time a cross-Atlantic trip won’t be necessary to partake in Primavera Sound—there will be an offshoot festival in L.A. this year, held from Sept. 19-20 at Los Angeles State Historic Park.

Even more exciting about Primavera is its commitment to highlighting women-aligned acts in their lineup. Last year, Primavera had an almost exact 50/50 parity among male and female acts, while this year the lineup is actually 53% comprised of women-led acts. This puts Primavera way ahead of other lineups at Coachella, Bonnaroo and Stagecoach.

The festival responded to the much-approved gender parity by stating: “We are not highlighting it anymore because for us the new normal is now just normal.”
