PUP Release New Song “Free at Last,” Share Music Video of Fan Covers

Toronto punk-rock outfit PUP have finally dropped another new song, titled “Free at Last.” The band previously released the song’s basic chords and lyrics, and asked their fans to send in covers without having heard the actual song. To accompany the track, PUP have also shared a video that features a selection of the 253 covers they received, including clips of Eva Hendricks from Charly Bliss, and Finn Wolfhard of the band Calpurnia and Netflix’s Stranger Things.

“Free at Last” is a frantic, high-octane punk tune filled with all the dizzying guitar leads and infectious choruses that PUP fans have come to expect. It comes as the second single from their forthcoming album Morbid Stuff after the track “Kids,” which came out alongside the album announcement back in January.

PUP announced the new album by sending out a zine and a 3D comic book to fans that also included a 7” flexi-disc of “Kids.” Morbid Stuff will be the band’s third full-length album and serve as the follow-up to 2016’s critically-acclaimed The Dream is Over. Morbid Stuff is out April 5 on Little Dipper/Rise.

You can preorder your own copy of Morbid Stuff here. Check out the video for “Free at Last” and a 2014 PUP session from the Paste archives below, and find the full list of dates on the band’s extensive spring and summer tour further down.
