After the emotional tumult and disruptive weather on Friday, Rock on the Range Day Two provided a far more cathartic day of ragged power chords and black leather. The lineup dove deep into the annals of aughties metal—Korn headlined a day populated by Papa Roach, Alter Bridge, Seether and The Offspring. Compared to performances landing today from black metal innovators Deafheaven and The Dillinger Escape Plan, Saturday was a curation of Total Request Live with a heavy emphasis on nu-metal and hard rock. Standout performances from former Gallows screamer Frank Carter and his band, The Rattlesnakes, set a high point for the festival at 3 PM while respective emo and prog pioneers Taking Back Sunday and Coheed and Cambria offered some stylistic variance.
