Steely Dan Announce New Tour Dates in Wake of Walter Becker’s Death

In the days after the untimely death of Steely Dan co-founder Walter Becker last week, his longtime musical partner Donald Fagen vowed to keep Steely Dan on the road “to keep the music we created together alive as long as I can.”

On Monday, Fagen made good on that vow, announcing eight new U.S. tour dates followed by three in the UK that will keep Steely Dan on the road through October, according to Ultimate Classic Rock. For the Europe dates, Steely Dan will be joined by The Doobie Brothers.

Becker, who formed the band with Fagen in 1972, died Sept. 3 at age 67. No cause of death has been revealed, but illness forced him to miss Steely Dan’s appearances at the twin Classic West and Classic East music festivals in July. He last performed with the band on May 27.

Read our memorial tribute to Becker here, and be sure to listen to this incredible, exclusive recording of Steely Dan performing at their peak in London on May 20, 1974—perhaps the greatest Steely Dan show ever.
