Live Photos: Behind the Scenes with Streets of Laredo in New York

Last Tuesday, Streets of Laredo played a VIP show at the Rose Bar—the last performance supporting debut LP Wild before the group develops material for its next album—including a sailing trip from Los Angeles to the group’s native home of New Zealand. The Kiwi-come-Brooklyn folk outfit has offered a refreshing take on jangly indie Americana, built on wistful, textured slow-build anthems often festooned with arpeggios and horn accompaniment. More energetic tunes juxtapose the vocal interplay of vocalists Dan and Sarahjane Gibson. (Check out “Silly Bones.”) Live, that musical nuance is intoxicating. Paste photographer Drew Reynolds spent some time with the band during during this day, capturing behind-the-scenes prep as well as their electric performance.
