Americana rockers The Devil Makes Three are gearing up for the release of their covers album Redemption and Ruin on Aug. 26.

Today, the trio debuted the music video for the Muddy Waters’ cover “Champagne and Reefer,” which they shared last month.

The humorous video is comprised of black-and-white clips from the sensationalist 1936 film Reefer Madness that condemns the supposed consequences of the devil’s lettuce.

Reefer Madness was a propaganda film about the evils of marijuana, which now most people know are a complete myth,” guitarist Pete Bernhard told Entertainment Weekly. “We thought it was funny to re-edit the video and just sort of focus on the parts that are really ridiculous.”

The roaring track “Champagne and Reefer” is one of twelve covers on Redemption and Ruin. The record, due out Aug. 26, covers the greats like Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Townes Van Zandt and more.
