Watch The Get Right Band Cover Jeff Buckley’s “Lover, You Should’ve Come Over” in the Paste Studio

The Get Right Band, an energetic indie-psych group from Asheville, N.C., put their own shiny spin on a classic Jeff Buckley tune in the Paste Studio Wednesday.

Already fans of Jeff Buckley, including a few of his “bootleg live albums,” the trio hoped to make the Grace classic their own.

“There’s something so quirky about his songwriting,” guitarist Silas Durocher said. “It’s never straightforward. It’s always got these weird twists and turns and ‘Lover, You Should’ve Come Over’ is no exception, and we kind of dug that about it and thought it would be a cool challenge. It feels so much like him, so we thought it’d be a cool challenge to make it sound like The Get Right Band.”

2019 marks the 25th anniversary of Buckley’s Grace, which was released in August of 1994. The singer/songwriter tragically passed away a few years after Grace, the only proper studio album he ever released. It contains his beloved cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.”

The Get Right Band also played “Requiem for the Chemical Memory,” from their 2016 LP Who’s In Charge?, plus two songs from a still-unreleased record, “Fire with Rain” and “Itchy Soul.” Find all their upcoming tour dates on the band’s website.
