Listen to Two More New Tracks from The Hamilton Mixtape

Music News The Hamilton Mixtape

We’re so close to The Hamilton Mixtape but Lin-Manuel Miranda and the motley crew of artists on it are still drip-feeding us tracks. Not that we’re complaining.

Today’s two tracks are a cover of Aaron Burr’s “Wait For It” as performed by Usher and a riff on Hamilton’s “Hurricane” called “Wrote My Way Out,” featuring Aloe Blacc and original verses from Nas, Dave East and Miranda himself.

Usher’s cover is pretty solid, though he does seem of half a mind on whether to get rid of the historical references in the lyrics. “Wrote My Way Out” is a particularly interesting entry on the mixtape because it takes Hamilton’s “hip-hop story” of writing your way to success, as Miranda has repeatedly called it, and returns it back to the rappers themselves. Nas’ inclusion is especially noteworthy, as he was one of the rappers who inspired Miranda’s love of hip-hop in the first place.

The Hamilton Mixtape comes out on Dec. 2. You can get to the new tracks on your preferred listening service here. Find previously released tracks here and the mixtape’s tracklist here.
