The Mattson 2 Share Summery New Single and Video, “Wavelength”

The Mattson 2 have always added their own brand of hazy psychedelia to classic jazz songwriting styles, and “Wavelength,” the new single pulled from the band’s forthcoming Paradise Tuesday, is no different.

“Wavelength” is a laid-back groove, something to listen to on those sweltering summer afternoons spent whiling away the daylight in the shade. The breezy tune is backed by steady drum fills, with a noodling guitar to guide you in between verses. Throw in some keys and understated vocals, and you’ve got a sleek jazz track that feels like it’s just about to slip out of reach.

Fitting, then, that the video shows the identical twin brothers just barely missing each other. They’re color-coded, one in red, the other blue, thankfully; it’s impossible to tell them apart otherwise. Between all the near-misses, the video shows the boys playing their instruments and having a blast.
