Listen to Unknown Mortal Orchestra Cover David Bowie’s “Oh! You Pretty Things”

The world may never get over the loss of David Bowie, but anything that reminds us of his glamorous legacy makes the pain just a little bit easier to deal with.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra recorded a cover of Bowie’s classic song “Oh! You Pretty Things” for SiriusXM, and it pays a glorious tribute to the lost legend. The track is pulled from Bowie’s 1971 album Hunky Dory. Listen below.

Following a sonic pattern that’s very close to the original, Unknown Mortal Orchestra does Bowie justice on the cover, which was released late Wednesday. The band employs steady keys and some righteous vocals from frontman Ruban Nielson to take listeners right back to ‘71.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra released their fourth studio album, the funk-riddled Sex & Food, in April. They followed up the release with a chill animated video backing one of the album’s groovier tracks, “Hunnybee.” You can watch that, and find the band’s tour dates, right here.

Listen to Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Bowie cover and their 2011 Daytrotter Session down below. If you’re feeling especially nostalgic, you’ll also find Paste vault recordings from a Bowie show circa 1983 stacked thereafter.
