Unknown Mortal Orchestra Release Mellow “Hunnybee” Music Video

Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s song “Hunnybee,” off their latest record Sex & Food, has been earning the love of fans live and otherwise. It has now been released as a single with a music video in-line with the other videos tied to this album.

The “Hunnybee” video continues with the same animation style as “Not in Love We’re Just High,”“American Guilt” and “Everyone Acts Crazy Nowadays,” thereby keeping a visual connectivity between them. Little actually moves in each video but “Hunnybee,” being focused on a train, has more motion than the others.

The video opens with the song’s literal namesake—a bumblebee resting on a flower before it’s blown away by the force of the train going past. The song’s title actually stems from the middle name of Ruban Nielson’s (vocalist/guitarist) daughter. Other small visuals nod to the lives of the band members, including the backpack patch that says “Kiwi,” a nickname for the people of New Zealand, where UMO are from, and a kangaroo sticker on a suitcase. The overarching story of the video follows a woman traveling on a train. The lyric “There’s no such thing as sweeter a sting” connects to the nearly ill-fated train which, among other issues, has a loosely bolted wheel and a termite-ridden branch threatening to fall on its tracks. The train ultimately carries on without harm.
