Watch 15 Fans Get Inked for the Love of The Kills

Tattoos inspired by your favorite artists are infamously known to go terribly, terribly wrong. Exhibit A: this.

But, when the tattoos are commissioned by the artists themselves, the results are actually pretty interesting. Exhibit B: The Kills.

The indie-rock duo asked earlier this year for volunteers willing to go “Under the Gun” and get inked. The 15 fans would get symbols, including an eye, a volcano, a martini glass and a phone, among others, that represent each song and the cover art for the band’s fifth studio album, Ash & Ice, which was released in June.

The brave souls, some of whom had never been tatted before, gathered in early June with The Kills’ Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart to make good on their promises. The resulting short film, set to their song “Hard Habit to Break,” showcases the experience.
