Weezer and Sting + Peter Gabriel Added To Growing List Of Summerfest Headliners

Milwaukee’s Summerfest continues to add to its growing crop of headliners. The vast concert festival (or is it a series? It’s sometimes hard to tell.) announced that Weezer and Panic! at the Disco will perform at the flagship Marcus Amphitheater on July 9, with Sting and Peter Gabriel taking the stage the following night.

For Sting and Gabriel, this is one stop on their joint Rock Paper Scissors tour, which will include 21 North American shows and feature a mixture of both musical giants’ greatest hits. Says Sting of the tour: “I’m very happy that we’re taking the chance to experiment this way. I think people will be intrigued, I certainly am.”

“What intrigues me is that you get a good bunch of musicians together and interesting things will happen,” adds Gabriel. Meanwhile, Weezer is gearing up to release its long-awaited White Album on Apr. 1, with an accompanying tour of mostly outdoor venues to take place over the course of the summer.

Summerfest is pretty distinctive among the big music festivals in a few ways. First, it’s massive; it lasts for 11 days. Second, it’s comparatively cheap; you can currently “buy an eleven-day “power pass for $90. Third, that price doesn’t include admission to the headlining shows at the Marcus Amphitheater, which is where Weezer, Sting, and Peter Gabriel will be playing. The Weezer tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. CST here.
