The Emerging Music Editor will be responsible for maintaining coverage and content in the music section as it pertains to new bands and emerging solo artists. This position is full-time, based in Paste’s Manhattan office.
Responsibilities:
• Discovering the best new music
• Assigning and editing Best of What’s Next articles
• Assigning and editing exclusive song, video and album premieres
• Helping schedule sessions in our NY studio
• Curating our weekly Paste.com sampler
• Recruiting bands to the Paste Cloud
• Helping curate the Recommended section of Paste Cloud
• Assigning and editing new band album reviews
• Writing about new music
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
• 2 to 3 years knowledge in an editing role (preferably at a music publication)
• Deep knowledge of the music Paste covers
• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
• Experience in web, interactive
• Strong knowledge of grammar and AP Style
• Excellent communication skills
