About the Book
When Jumaane, an African refugee, climbs the concrete wall securing the southern border of the hermetically sealed United States of Europe, his
dreams of freedom and safety quickly turn into a living nightmare.
The
year is 2058. The world's powers have been stabilised, the citizens of
the newly formed super-states are safe, living in peace. But safety is a
privilege of the fortunate few. For those, born on the wrong side of
The Wall surrounding the United States of Europe, peace must be paid
for; and the price is higher than ever before.
When fate brings
the two men together, they struggle against time, hostile forces, their
own prejudices and each other, towards a conclusion, neither of them
would have thought possible."
New Dawn is a protest against the
rise of racism, the political exploitation of ignorance and fear, and
the glorification of war, wrapped in an action packed, constantly
accelerating chase. Told from different points of view, the story shows
all sides of an unfolding disaster. There are no pretenses or clichés,
the characters confront each other and their own prejudices, while
struggling to accept a reality that is widely different from their
deepest rooted beliefs.
The story is set in a dystopian near
future, which symbolises the ills of contemporary society. From the rise
of extreme-right wing populism, through the inaptitude of a liberalism
that is not willing to take action or even responsibility, to the
oft-unspoken prejudices found in all aspects of everyday life, the
story’s world and characters are based on our present time.
About the Author

with a broken world, while his non-fiction books and articles are an
attempt to mend it.
