About the Book

Truth is a shapeshifter. Sometimes it slams into us in a head-on collision, changing everything in an eyeblink. But more often, truth arrives camouflaged in the ordinary, it's significance becoming clear only upon reflection. Sooner or later, we realize that we are at once our own jailers and the instruments of our own freedom, streaking toward a destiny lurking just beyond our headlights.

This anthology is a collection of Dirk's short stories, as well as excerpts from previously published work and a preview of Tier Zero, the first volume of his science fiction series of first contact between Earth and Knolan Concordant, published in November of 2019.

About the Author

Dirk's path to authorship wasn't quite an accident, but almost. It's not that he didn't write. He did. But through two previous careers, first as a Marine officer and subsequently as a corporate trainer, Dirk started way more stories than he finished." But in the backwash of the 2008 financial meltdown, his employer filed for Chapter 11. Cordially invited to leave and not return, Dirk found himself out of work and excuses.

Dirk's first book, West of Tomorrow was published in 2016. In 2018, Best-Case Scenario and Through the Windshield, Drive-by Lives followed. His latest work, a science fiction novel entitled, Tier Zero, Vol. I of the Knolan Cycle was published in November of 2019. Works in progress include A Year of Maybes, sequel to Best Case Scenario and Eryinath-5, second volume in The Knolan Cycle.
