From Mt. Vernon, NY, Rodney “JP” Reynolds (fka J Prophet) inspires the millennial generation through music, as well as the written and spoken word. His innovative sound blends a Jesus-oriented message of love with jazz-inspired, soul-infused, and gospel-informed hip-hop. JP has performed at venues such as the 50th Anniversary March on Washington, Bread for the World’s National Gathering, Ford Fusion’s 2012 Advertising Campaign, and The Apollo Theater Soundstage.
A national artist, JP has shared the stage with performers ranging from Hezekiah Walker to ones like Lupe Fiasco. As a writer JP has developed a devotional, podcast "In the Word" series that explores the transformative power of relationship with God in culturally relevant ways. He also produces articles that examine the connections between art and society through a spiritual lens. And in addition to performing and writing, JP speaks and preaches at schools and churches.
JP aims to build community by helping to construct a place where millennial dreamers, thinkers, lovers, and justice doers can connect with others. Although the connections may happen primarily through music, JP intends for the Peace and Power Family (#PAPFam) to be a space to help folks develop spiritual connection to God and to provide a platform to address issues of social justice.
JP received his Bachelor of Arts in African-American Studies in 2010 and his Master of Divinity in 2013, both from Yale University.
