Copenhagen is a mini-musical of six parts in one 9 minute song - celebrating the life of Marius the Giraffe. On February 9th, 2014 the Copenhagen Zoo mercilessly euthanized and butchered this beautiful, perfectly healthy 2-year old giraffe, then fed him to lions in front of zoo patrons including children. Marius's crime - his DNA was deemed not unique enough to justify continued life. Despite worldwide protests and offers from other zoo's to take Marius, this innocent creature was killed by the Copenhagen Zoo. This song is centered on Marius and explores other themes of the dignity of life.
